Gastronomy

Rich in gastronomic variety, Mallorcan cuisine is steeped in the traditions of its cultural island history. In true Mediterranean style, typical dishes are made using the freshest seasonal produce available combining home grown fruits and vegetables from the most fertile regions on the island, seafood straight from the Mediterranean Sea, and meats, in particular pork, from which the typical local dish is made: sobrasada.

Tradition

The traditional and internationally known ingredients of Mallorca’s cuisine are olive oil, almonds and wine. The island’s landscape flourish thanks to the multitude of olive groves and almond orchards, but also to the beautiful gardens, orchards and vineyards that are dotted all over Mallorca.

Liqueurs on the island like the herbal liqueur ‘Licor de Hierbas’ makes a fantastic digestive after a meal, or the ‘palo’, which is taken before as an appetizer. They represent the most refined gastronomy culture in Mallorca.
